 | I grew up in the Northland and graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1981. I attended the University of Missouri - Columbia and graduated with a B.A. in Biology in 1985. My summers were spent working at Worlds of Fun, Tension Envelope, and delivering the Kansas City Star. In 1985, I started medical school at the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Medicine. Dr. Daniel Roney and I were married in 1987. We lived apart for two years as he was in medical school at Washington University. I graduated in the top 25% of my class in 1989.
From 1989 to 1992, I was a resident physician in Family Medicine at Baptist Medical Center. Most of my training was at Baptist Medical Center, but also included Children's Mercy Hospital, and Truman Medical Center. I entered private practice in 1992 in Parkville. In 1994, I joined the Faculty of Family Medicine Residency at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. For six years I was able to enjoy the academic environment. This experience included teaching, seeing patients both in the office and the hospital at Trinity Lutheran Hospital and Research Medical Center.
In May of 2000, I returned to private practice with Northland Family Care, previously Seaport Family Practice. I enjoy family medicine because it is an opportunity to get to know my patients and care for a variety of problems. Family medicine is not limited to one gender, age, or organ system. I have the opportunity to provide care for infants through the end of life. This allows me to get to know patients not only on a personal level, but also in the context of the family and community. I am rewarded by participating in the care of mild illness, management of chronic illness, and preventative care in the office, as well as serious illness in the hospital. Family doctors truly have it all!
On a personal note, I enjoy exercise, reading, sewing, and teaching Sunday School. I am happily married to the other Dr. Roney, and we have three great boys: Brandon, Joel, and Alex. As a family, we enjoy travel, water-skiing, snow-skiing, and attending church together. I would like to be your primary care provider, please call today to schedule an appointment at 816-781-4740! |
