Please direct any questions regarding your child's well visit schedule to your physician's nurse. Our physicians recommend yearly well child visits after 2 years of age

Briefly lifts head
Makes throaty noises
Blinks at bright light
Put to sleep on back to reduce SIDS risk
Learn CPR
Rear facing infant car seat in center of back seat
Insist on smoke-free environment
Always use sun block or avoid sun exposure
Do not use pacifiers with strings
Closely supervise awake time
NEVER leave baby alone in the tub, changing table, or around pets

2 months

Social smile
Holds head steady
Grasps ratte/finger

4 months

Raises body on hands
Recognizes parents voice
Babbles/laughs
Sleeps thru the night
Keep age appropriate toys to prevent choking
Do not use baby walkers
Watch baby closely, he/she is starting to roll
"Childproof" your home
Keep hot fluids away from counter edges and off tablecloths (baby could pull on the cloth to spill the liquid)
Empty buckets, tubs, or small pools immediately after use
Keep "poisons" out of reach and locked away (Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222 or call 911)

6 months

Looks for dropped toys
Rolls both ways
Imitates sounds
Attempts to self feed

9 months

Responds to name
Sits independently
Finger/thumb "pincher"
Understands "no" and "bye"
Always supervise baby when feeding
Prevent access to firearms or gun supplies
Use the back burners of the stove with pans out of reach
Keep appliance cords out of reach (baby can pull them on top of him/her, or may chew the cords which may shock baby)
Keep medicines out of reach
Use caution when visiting homes that may not be "childproofed"

12 months

Pulls to standing position
Vocabulary of 1-5 words
Drinks from cup
Waves bye-bye
Self feeds

15 months

3-6 word vocabulary
Points to 1+ body parts
Follows simple commands
Ignore temper tantrums
Read books to your child to encourage vocabulary growth
Praise good behavior to build self-esteem
Limit television time
Help your toddler with teeth brushing to build a lifetime of good oral health
Let your child play with peers
Do not expect your child to share at this age
Schedule supervised outdoor time to allow exploring
Use "time-out" for discipline, spanking only encourages your child to hit others (1 minute of time-out for every year of age, any longer is too long to expect your child to remain still)
Maintain a consistent daily routine
Imagined fears (monsters, etc) are common at this age
Switch your child at 2 years of age from whole milk to 2% milk

18 months

 4-10 word vocabulary

2 Years
